Something has really weighed on my heart lately that I feel I must share. Believe me, I practice what I preach and it feels wonderful! So here I go...
When was the last time you thought of someone else? I mean truly thought of someone other than yourself? When was the last time you helped an old lady cross the street, or helped a single mother with children with her groceries out to her car? What about buying a complete stranger a coffee behind you or buying the person's meal order in the car behind you in the drive through?
In times like these it’s easy for us to get self centered and focused on ourselves, our situation. Remember, even the poorest of the poor in America are far richer than much of the world. What’s an extra $3.50 to buy that person behind you a Mocha? How much is that truly worth?
There have been amazing cases I've heard of over the past few months where someone bought someone behind them a coffee. That person then in turn bought one behind them, etc. In some instances this has lasted to well over 100 drink orders! Imagine how good that would feel if you were one of those hundred, or even the person who started it? When I see or hear about this sort of thing it reminds me there is hope for us yet!
Life is all about helping each other, finding God in each other; looking for the good and ignoring the bad.
When you take your eye off yourself, and place it on others, your own situation will begin to change. Help others to help yourself!
God bless, Ryan
